Southview Care Home is situated close to the town of Cambuslang and has excellent transport links to Glasgow City Centre.
The home was constructed in 2001 and was leased by Greater Glasgow Health Board. This lease has now expired and Thistle Healthcare has refurbished the home to a high standard throughout.
The home aims to provide a facility for individuals who have been diagnosed with Korsakoffs' Syndrome or Mental Illness. These individuals would have received acute care in a hospital setting, and have now been assessed for continuing care, in a less formal, homely environment. They are considered suitable for further rehabilitation but require training and re-skilling, in preparation for possible independent living.
The accommodation comprises of 40 en-suite bedrooms. All the bedrooms are beautifully appointed, incorporating modern furnishings and en suite facilities with provision for both telephone and television. All rooms are also equipped with a nurse call system. Although rooms are more than adequately furnished, residents are always encouraged to bring in ornaments, family photographs and small items of their own furniture which add to that feeling of being 'at home'. Bedroom doors are fitted with a door lock, which allows residents to limit access only to those they wish to welcome into their personal and private space.
A dedicated activities co-ordinator is available to provide recreational activities and to help residents pursue new interests. A minibus or people carrier is available for planned day trips and regular outings to parks, museums and theatres.
