Situated
close to the town centre of Cambuslang, Greencross Care
Home is a listed building of architectural and historical
importance. Originally constructed as Bushyhill Primary
School in 1888, the building has been meticulously restored
and converted to provide a modern care facility whilst
maintaining old world charm. Consequently, Greencross
now provides accommodation for 63 older persons. A purpose
built unit completed in 2004 provides a further 31 en-suite
single bedrooms and provides specialist care for Korskakoff’s
psychosis.
There are single and shared rooms, furnished to a very
high standard, and all have a wash-hand basin, television
and telephone point. Toilet and bathing facilities are
close to all rooms, and en suite facilities are also
available. Although bedrooms are homely, residents are
encouraged to bring personal items if they wish.
A dedictated activities co-ordinator is always on hand
to provide recreational activities in addition to helping
residents pursue new interests. A minibus is available
for planned day trips and regular outings to parks,
theatres and any other points of interest.
